Buck Seibel started Seibel's Dairy Bar at its present location in 1939. The original dairy was the Seibel farm two miles west on route 198 in Spencerville, Maryland. The new location in Burtonsville bottled milk to deliver to homes in nearby communities. SEIBEL?S soon began making Super Premium ice cream and became a popular destination for a ride in the country and to enjoy an ice cream cone or milk shake. We continue to freeze super premium ice cream as we have for more than sixty years. We use only the finest fruits, nuts, candies, and fresh dairy products in the making of our ice cream.

In 1971 Harry and Joyce Ground purchased the restaurant, then serving breakfast, homemade soups and hamburgers. After two additions and three remodels the Ground family has helped SEIBEL?S grow from ten tables to a 182- seat restaurant. The menu has expanded into a full Traditional American offering. Our Features, to mention only a few, is fresh beef ground daily to produce our famous hamburgers. Homemade soups, using the same recipes Joyce Ground first used 33 years ago when she worked for Buck Seibel. Maple Lawn Farms in nearby Howard County raises the 40 pound turkeys roasted to perfection in our kitchen. Also offered is a full line of fresh seafood prepared and breaded in our kitchen. Our children's menu is available all day with free offerings for children less than six. Breakfast is a special treat. We suggest our homemade extra lean sausage. Also delicious are the fresh baked hams, homemade creamed chip beef and french toast prepared from fresh baked bread. We cook each dish to order. Our latest addition is a Fat-Free Fiber-Full menu, the Grand Prize Winner of the 1997 ?5 A Day Produce in the Spotlight Menu Contest?. Our Fat-Free Fiber-Full menu provides dishes for those who are concerned about cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and fat intake. Many of our no fat dishes are vegetarian. Everyone can now eat flavorful foods that are healthy too.

Today Seibel?s is still run by family, sisters Karen and Lynn. There is rarely a visit you will make that a family member isn?t on duty - grandchildren Chad, Lauren, Scott and Randi Lynn work as well at the restaurant. Some days there can be too, much family, "We don?t claim to be perfect, we do claim to care that all of our customers are happy. If we fall short of your expectations please let us know so we can try do a better job next time"
